Virtual Sun No. 0026
A cube of silvered brass rises on a black locust post above an oak base, at the height of a standing person. Fresnel optics turn a high-spectrum LED, reproducing the visible spectrum of sunlight, into a warm sphere that shifts as the viewer walks around it.
The post was steam-bent and twisted with such force that the wood began to split along its core. The crack runs through the support itself: the artificial sun is held up by a material pushed to the edge of breaking.
Light raised on a fracture.
